Testing Rate Dependent corrections on timing mode EPIC-pn spectra of the accreting Neutron Star GX 13+1
2014
When the EPIC-pn instrument on board XMM-Newton is operated in Timing mode, high count rates (>100 cts/s) of bright sources may affect the calibration of the energy scale, resulting in a modification of the real spectral shape. The corrections related to this effect are then strongly important in the study of the spectral properties. Tests of these calibrations are more suitable in sources which spectra are characterised by a large number of discrete features. Therefore, in this work, we carried out a spectral analysis of the accreting Neutron Star GX 13+1, which is a dipping source with several narrow absorption lines and a broad emission line in its spectrum. We tested two different co…
Dynamics of Changes in Preschool Teacher Preparation Programs (1950-2010)
2015

Each period is characterized by its specific features which are the base for forming learning values, educational process principles for higher education, educational aims for future teachers. The development of pedagogy subject as an academic discipline is a prime example of political and social developments of society impact.
The preparation of professional pre-school teacher and the implementation of the curriculum are topical problems in previous and current Latvian socio-economic and educational context. Changes in preschool teacher preparation program design and implementation are given an opportunity to compare, try and select the most valuable to fit the today’s …
Are We Really Teaching English for Specific Purposes, or Basic English Skills? The Cases of Turkey and Latvia
2018
English for specific purposes (ESP) has evolved as an important sub-field of English language education to meet the career-related needs of non-native speakers of English in a wide variety of contexts. As such, ESP instruction in specialized subject areas ranging from vocational (e.g., tourism and hospitality) to professional (e.g., international law or banking) to academic (e.g., thesis and dissertation writing) is often integrated in the training and degree programs offered at higher education institutions. However, the ability of these institutions to provide adequate ESP instruction has often been called into question, with critics indicating that insufficient resources and planning, la…
Sensitivity of one-neutron knockout of halo nuclei to their nuclear structure
2019
Halo nuclei are located far from stability and exhibit a very peculiar structure. Due to their very short lifetime, they are often studied through reactions. Breakup reactions are of particular interest since their cross sections are large for these loosely-bound nuclei. Inclusive measurements of breakup--also called knockout reactions--have even higher statistics. In this proceeding, we study which nuclear-structure information can be inferred from the parallel-momentum distribution of the core of one-neutron halo nuclei after the knockout of its halo neutron. In particular, we analyse the influence of the ground-state wavefunction, the presence of excited states within the halo-nucleus sp…
Studio delle prestazioni di giunzioni incollate ibride
2011

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is an emerging methodology in the building industry, since the intelligent digital three-dimensional model-based process of BIM can be used to plan, design, structure, manage, and analysis buildings. The aim of this report paper is to provide information about the latest related topic in BIM field connecting to CIB W78 conferenece.
Exact algorithms for the multi-compartment vehicle routing problem with flexible compartment sizes
2021
Abstract The multi-compartment vehicle routing problem with flexible compartment sizes is a variant of the classical vehicle routing problem in which customers demand different product types and the vehicle capacity can be separated into different compartments each dedicated to a specific product type. The size of each compartment is not fixed beforehand but the number of compartments is limited. We consider two variants for dividing the vehicle capacity: On the one hand the vehicle capacity can be discretely divided into compartments and on the other hand compartment sizes can be divided continuously. The objective is to minimize the total distance of all vehicle routes such that all custo…
Navigating uncharted waters: Designing business models for virtual and augmented reality companies in the medical industry
2021
Abstract New technologies are at the heart of industry transformation. Virtual and augmented reality companies provide fundamentally new ways of communication, treatment, education, and specialist training within the medical industry. However, business models for new ventures that target the medical industry have received scant attention within academic research. Using a multiple case study approach, we analyze how virtual and augmented reality firms create value for their customers in the medical industry. In all, we have studied eight companies that offer different types of solutions for their target segments. The results of the analysis are four design elements consisting of twelve posit…
